13.07.2008 Career Expo Hosts The Opening Of The Summer Career Camp For Boys |
As the Summer Career Camp for Girls draws to a productive close, the Career Expo Steering Committee proudly announced the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Career Camp for Boys yesterday at Bahrain Training Institute (BTI) in Isa Town, as part of the Summer Career Camp for 2008.
Mr. Husain Al-Rabeei welcomed guests on behalf of BTI at the ceremony’s commencement, followed by a speech and presentation delivered by Mr. Saeed Al Asbool, who fills a seat on the Career Expo steering committee for 2008.
30 Male students currently in their second year of high school have registered to participate in a number of career guidance and counseling workshops, with a specific focus on necessary professional skills, along with various field visits which aim to acquaint the students with the available options in the job market, and the overall working environment in different sectors. In order to reveal their natural inclination and propensity towards certain professions, students will be afforded the opportunity to take personality tests and other diagnostics.
As the third of its kind since 2005, the camp—which runs from 6-17 July 2008 at the BTI—targets both male and female students with the intention of equipping them with critical skills and professionalism in the workplace, allowing them to walk away from this experience with a confident outlook in respects to the job market both locally and internationally. As the future workforce, they are being groomed to serve as ambassadors in their schools and among their peers.
“A persistently evolving job market influenced by an increased reliance on technological advancement is changing the face of the professional workforce as we know it. The Career Expo therefore aims to help the youth make wise career choices as per their interests and talent through the exposure to certain professions & their behind-the-scenes activity, while also providing the opportunity for employers to handpick a motivated workforce.” commented Mr. Abdul Elah Al Qassimi, Career Expo 2008, Steering Committee Chairman.
Mr. Husain Al-Rabeei, Training Manger at the BTI and Career Expo Steering Committee member, has expressed eager support to Career Expo and its objectives, and also to the participants of the Summer Career Camp of 2008. “By directing the participants toward the job market’s required disciplines will in turn reduce the unemployment rate, and in so doing, identify the participants’ inclinations and abilities when choosing their most suited specializations.” added Mr. Al-Rabeei.
The Summer Career Camp falls under the umbrella of the Career Expo which is a non-profit annual event that is being organized for the 8th time, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Majeed Al Alawi, Minister of Labour, and under the auspices of the National Society for Support of Education & Training (NSSET). The Expo is set to take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), on 21 -23 October, 2008.
The three-day event targets Bahraini secondary students, vocational students, jobseekers, parents, and the community at large, in an effort to enhance Bahraini student and jobseeker understanding of the professional world, and to guide them in choosing, or changing, their careers; thereby enriching job prospects and the quality of the Bahraini workforce. Career Expo 2008 will provide an unparalleled opportunity for employers and training providers to meet face to face with students, the unemployed, and those wishing to improve their employment situation.
